Serving The Community

I'm running for a position on the Highline School Board because I think I have what it takes to make a positive difference in the educational experience offered to the public school students, teachers, staff, and taxpayers of this wonderful area of King County, known as Highline.

Highline is not a city, but rather a unique eco-system of smaller cities and unincorporated areas of South King County that offers its own thriving culture, style and vast amounts of potential…especially when we work together.

Let's pick up the pace on realizing that potential and celebrate the things that unite us as a Highline Community and as people who live together in the United States of America which is about to celebrate 250 years as a country! Every student deserves an opportunity to experience the feeling of true patriotism at such a milestone!

Demonstrating Civility, Optimism and Promise

Highline School District is all about Promise! And they've done a great job of delivering on promises like building beautiful schools on time and on budget.

They strive to know every student by name, strength and need and prepare them for the future they choose.

I'd love an opportunity to build on that promise and help our Highline students realize that we are living during some of the most opportune times in all of human history, in one of nature's most glorious corners of the globe and that we owe it to ourselves to become literate, knowledgeable, people of character, in order to best enjoy it and thrive.

Every student deserves to realize their full potential in this remarkable time and place.

Here are some issues to consider:

🏫

Environments Conducive to Learning:

Students and teachers deserve to feel safe, welcomed and respected at school. Teachers must be empowered to maintain calm, focused classrooms where learning can thrive and a respectful demeanor towards one's selves and others is maintained.

📚

Foundational Skills Prioritized:

Early reading and writing are essential. We must refocus on the science of literacy and implement literacy-based promotion to ensure every child can graduate with real options for their future.

💡

Responsible and Transparent Spending:

With $22,000 spent per student annually, we owe it to families to deliver results for all levels of learners. Both students with learning challenges and advanced learners should have many options for success within the district. I'll push for choice, accountability, clear outcomes, and the best use of public funds.

Together, we can create an educational environment where every student thrives.
